Lourmarin

It is one of the most beautiful villages in France with Provençal tiled houses. This village is medieval and was founded around the year 1000. Here we have a beautiful Renaissance style castle from the 15th and 16th century. During this period Louramrin went through the wars of religion. This is why from the castle terrace you can see the bell tower of the Catholic church and also a 19th century Protestant temple. 3000 Protestants were killed during the wars of religion in the Luberon. Albert Camus lived in Lourmarin. His grave is in the village cemetery.

The Lourmarin castle dates from the 15th-16th century and is in the Renaissance style. It is open for visits. You can visit it and see the interiors and architectural curiosities of this building. The ocher quarries are open to visitors.
