What you can expect
Day 1: After receiving you at the airport in Puerto Maldonado, we will welcome you with a refreshing tropical juice. Here begins the 2-hour land trip to the Wasai Tambopata lodge, along a mostly paved road to a rustic path that takes you between settler farms and primary forests to the Tambopata River. You will arrive at the lodge to enjoy an interesting night walk in which you will learn about the ecosystems of the rainforest and you will be able to observe multiple insects, bats, frogs and perhaps some mammals. Enjoy the delicious dinner and rest with the nocturnal sounds of nature. Day 2: Wake up very early, because from 5:00 a.m. you will be able to see the arrival of birds in flocks from the Tambopata River to the “El Chuncho” Macaw Clay Lick, the largest in the world. At 5:30 a.m., the boat leaves the lodge heading for this place in the National Reserve; a nutrient-rich clay cliff, which forms a natural sanctuary for macaws, parrots and parakeets, who come here daily to eat, offering one of the most attractive, colorful and audible wildlife spectacles. The excitement continues at dusk, with the encounter with nocturnal creatures and the search for alligators in the middle of the Tambopata River. Arrive at the lodge for dinner and rest. Day 3: Start this day with a very early sunrise enjoying the colorful colors of the Amazon mixed with the rising sun. After breakfast, you will return by boat and land vehicle to the Puerto Maldonado airport. To get to know the Amazon, you must minimize the risks. Venturing out to get to know it on your own can put your life at risk.
