You arrive at a casual sushi restaurant in Nara, a city known as one of Japan’s oldest cultural centers, where ancient temples and traditional crafts have shaped daily life for centuries. The setting is relaxed and welcoming rather than formal, and your guide is ready to lead you through one of Japan’s most recognized culinary traditions in English.

Your guide demonstrates nigiri technique in front of you, showing how to handle rice, shape each piece, and place toppings. You then follow along, repeating the process yourself with your guide’s direction. As questions arise, you can ask your guide, who keeps the session clear and interactive throughout.

By the end of the session, you have shaped your own nigiri pieces from start to finish and sit down to eat what you made. You leave with a practical understanding of rice handling and nigiri shaping that goes beyond observation, built through doing it yourself in a real restaurant.
