What you can expect

Suiboku-ga (ink painting) is a serious art form which the only type of painting that does not use layers of paint. It is said to be a painting from the heart, as its simplicity allows one's heart to be reflected directly in the painting. It is filled with the Japanese aesthetic sense and spirituality.

In our lessons, you will learn the basic techniques of Suiboku-ga and feel the Zen spirit. We stick to a simple method of painting, finishing with a single brushstroke.

The finished work will be a souvenir to take home or to give as a gift to friends and family.

Each group will choose one of the following types of paintings: pine, bamboo, plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, and “Kanji”(Chinese characters).

A pack of green tea from Uogashi Meicha, famous in Tsukiji, is included as a souvenir.
