What you can expect

  • Meet your guide at the entrance to the Vasa Museum and head straight past the ticket line to enter the museum together. Learn about the history of the Vasa warship while you explore the museum with your guide.

Start with details about the Swedish Empire and the war during which the ship was commissioned and discover how warnings about the ship's seaworthiness were ignored. Find out why the Vasa eventually sank on its maiden voyage, still within sight of the shipyard where it was constructed.

Then, listen as your guide explains how the ship was later found and ultimately salvaged. See the 19th-century maps used to locate the ship and hear about the engineering involved in salvaging the wreck. Leave your tour with a deeper understanding of the Vasa warship's history, everything that happened, and how the museum as it is today came to be.
