What you can expect
Lake Mälaren is the 3rd largest lake in Sweden (8th in Europe) and with its more than 8000 islands, 120 km in length and a very complex coastline is a true inner archipelago itself. Mälaren valley is the birth place of Swedish culture, full of historic events and sites from vikings to the modern days.
This sunset kayak tour is a great combination of a relaxed paddling in the beautiful sunset or morning light, nature experience, few historical remarks and of course a traditional evening fika on the beach or sauna and time for a swim on the morning tour!
The guide will pick you up at the Kallhäll commuter train station. After just 10 min. drive you will reach one of the Stockholm's green oasis in the outskirts of the city and start your kayak experience with an introduction in kayaking and safety instructions before it`s time to get on the water!
Paddling route is approx. 7 km which means some 1,5 - 2 cozy hours on the water and of course the very traditional evening fika with the guide´s special cake and coffee or tea (available on evening tour only). Rounding a couple of lone islands, paddling along a nature reserve and maybe with some luck seeing some of the many beavers coming out for a swim in the twilight - all that belong to the evening tour. And least but not last - try to catch your perfect sunset picture! If you choose the morning tour, there will be even free time which you can use for a swim in the crystal clear water of Mälaren or maybe even use traditional sauna to refill good energy for the rest of the day and have a light lunch with a lake view in the cozy local café before returning back to the city. See you on the lake!
