Leave Sofia behind for a day in the Pirin Mountains, one of the wildest and most spectacular ranges in the Balkans. After a scenic 2.5-hour drive south, you’ll arrive at the foot of the mountains, ready to head for the high peaks.

Your adventure begins with a 30-minute chairlift ride, gliding over pine forests up to Bezbog Hut. From this high-altitude starting point, set off on a 3- to 4-hour hike through dramatic alpine terrain within Pirin National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The route is tailored to your fitness level. Take on the challenge of Polezhan Peak (2,851 m), or choose the gentler climb to Bezbog Peak. Both reward you with sweeping 360-degree views of jagged ridges, and from above you’ll look down on sparkling glacial lakes scattered across the valleys.
