Activity itinerary

Bergen (Pass by)

Start in Bergen, leaving the harbor and Bryggen behind as you head east on the E16. The road quickly opens into countryside with lakes, hills, and the first hints of the mountain ranges that guard the western fjords. You will see the city give way to open landscapes, with glimpses of the sea or distant peaks in almost every direction.

Voss Municipality (Pass by)

About 1–1.5 hours from Bergen, you arrive in Voss. Travelers will see the town nestled between Vangsvatnet lake and high‑altitude slopes, with ski areas and hiking trails rising above.

Tvindefossen

  • 15m
A little further along the E16, you reach Tvindefossen, a 116‑meter “twin” waterfall that plunges down a steep rock face just steps from the road. Enjoy a view of the waterfall framed by mossy stones and roaring streams, with a small spring basin where many stop to drink “reviving” water. The stop is short but striking, perfect for photos and a quick walk behind the falls.

Stalheim (Pass by)

Continuing, the road climbs into the UNESCO‑listed Nærøydalen. From near Stalheim, you will see the narrow valley stretching below, with the Nærøy River threading through green meadows and waterfalls streaking down the cliffs.

Gudvangen (Pass by)

The drive then descends into Gudvangen, a tiny village at the head of the Nærøyfjord. Take a look at the fjord calmly reflecting the mountains, with just a few wooden houses and a small harbour tucked into the steep shore.

Aurlandsfjord

  • 1h
Aurlandsfjord is a spectacular branch of the Sognefjord, known for its calm blue waters and majestic mountain scenery. Your driver-guide will meet you at the Flam pier afther the cruise.

Flam

  • 30m

The stop here includes a walk along the fjord promenade, views of boats and the serene water, and time for coffee or a snack while soaking in the fjord‑front atmosphere.

The Flam Railway

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana) is one of the world’s most scenic train journeys, taking you from the fjord village of Flåm up to the mountain station at Myrdal. Along the way, the train passes steep valleys, rushing rivers, waterfalls, and dramatic mountain landscapes, offering a memorable journey through some of western Norway’s most beautiful scenery. It is a classic highlight of any Fjord Norway itinerary and a chance to experience the dramatic contrast between the fjord and the high mountains.

The Bergen Railway
