What you can expect
Climb on a bike and set off to discover the cultural and historical heart of Kyoto. Cycle down historic streets and by scenic waterways as you discover the city’s most famous and impressive shrines and temples.
After meeting your guide, hop on your bike and cycle along the Kamo River, with its city views and waterfront restaurants, until you reach the Heian-Jingu Shrine. Built in 1894, this Shinto shrine has one of the largest torii gates in the country.
Then, ride next to quaint canals—the breathtaking Higashiyama Mountains serving as a backdrop—to the Nanzenji Temple—one of the most important Zen temples in all of Japan. Hop off to wander the spacious grounds and rock gardens before jumping back on your bike to travel down the cherry-tree lined Path of Philosophy, Kyoto’s most popular walking path.
Cycle back towards Kyoto Station, along a beautiful canal with old teahouses and traditional bathhouses among the cherry trees and traditional narrow backroads.
