Perkara yang anda boleh jangka

  • Begin your experience at the Slow Life Family Farm, a radical off-grid project managed by a local family who chose self-sufficiency. This is not a technical cooking class; it is an immersive food journey into the heart of the traditional Sicilian Sunday lunch. The entire day shares a singular, unifying objective: working the land and cooking side-by-side so we can finally sit down to play a long-lost ancient ceremonial game that requires the communal effort of the feast to begin.
We advise guests to keep their schedule completely open for the day. While the experience officially lasts around 6 hours, it moves at its own unhurried tempo—sometimes taking longer, and sometimes taking longer simply to be slower.
    The Harvest
Start in the organic vegetable garden, far removed from the logic of industrial supply chains. Depending on the season, take part in the manual harvesting of vegetables, aromatic herbs, and wild greens that form the backbone of the day’s meal. You will learn to recognize the peak maturity of a plant, the scent of wild field herbs, and the critical importance of biodiversity.
    The Mill & The Kitchen
Next, operate a traditional stone mill to grind ancient Sicilian wheat varieties, producing a fresh, organic whole-grain flour that is aromatic and nutrient-dense. Using this flour, master the manual techniques of fresh pasta making—a form of “gestural knowledge” passed down through generations.
Beyond pasta, explore the seasonal recipes of the Cucina Povera (the cuisine of the land). We prioritize technique and flavor profile over strict recipe execution. Throughout the preparation, you will dive into the fundamental pillars of island food culture, including a technical EVOO tasting, a cheese and honey analysis, and a dedicated lesson on ancient preservation techniques.
The Sunday Lunch & The Ancient Game
The climax of the day is the shared lunch, which faithfully replicates the social ritual of the Sicilian Sunday gathering. Time expands and courses follow one another without haste. Here, the day's true objective is realized. As the unlimited wine flows, the table transforms to host a forgotten ancient ceremonial game. This disappeared tradition is resurrected as an interactive, playful ritual of gratitude toward the land and the companions at the table—a game where everyone plays, laughing and celebrating the meal we built together.
    The River
To complete the cycle, the experience concludes at the crystal-clear river bordering the farm. On hot days and under good weather conditions, its refreshing waters offer the opportunity for a restorative swim in an uncontaminated natural setting. It is the ideal conclusion for metabolizing the experience: a return to the primordial element that has made life and agriculture possible in this corner of Sicily for over two millennia.
