Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Sigiriya or Habarana to Kantale, passing through lush forests and spotting wild elephants along the way. Arrive at Lake Kantale, originally built by King Aggabodhi II in the 7th century, and enjoy a delicious breakfast of local foods and fruits by the lake.
Next, embark on a 2-hour kayaking adventure over the waves and through authentic water trees and freshwater mangroves. Marvel at the fish and birds dancing on the lake as you paddle, guided by a lifeguard and equipped with personal life jackets.
After kayaking, head to a Chena cultivation farm and paddy fields for a traditional rice and curry lunch made by villagers. Spend a few hours exploring the fields, and if you're lucky, witness wild elephants crossing the paddies and farmers working to protect their crops.
Continue to Kantale village to taste the famous Kantale Curd made from cattle milk. Return to the lake for a safe refreshing freshwater bath or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.
As the sun begins to set, board a twin catamaran for a ride to the tiny rocky island of Aliyagala. Sail across the lake, watching the sunset and birds flying overhead. Once on the island, relax and enjoy a local dinner of string hoppers, lake fish curry, and fresh fruits. Sip a chilled beer as you soak in the island's tranquility.
As night falls, return to the mainland by boat, guided by the light of lamps. Finally, head back to your hotel or pickup point, keeping an eye out for more wild elephants along the road.
