What you can expect

The day begins from Kyoto or Kanazawa marking the start of a journey filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. The first stop is the charming village of Shirakawago, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This uniquely beautiful place is famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri houses, distinguished by their steep thatched roofs shaped like praying hands, designed to withstand the region’s heavy snowfall. Upon arrival, travelers have free time to enjoy lunch on their own and wander through the village’s peaceful streets, admiring its ancient architecture, local craft workshops, and the nostalgic atmosphere that seems to transport visitors back in time.

The tour continues to Kenrokuen, considered one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan and a true masterpiece that blends art and nature. Its ponds, graceful bridges, stone lanterns, and meticulously designed paths create an atmosphere of harmony and serenity that changes with the seasons, offering a unique experience year-round.

Next, the itinerary heads to the historic district of Higashi Chaya, where you can stroll along cobblestone streets lined with traditional teahouses, which retain the character and elegance of the Edo period. You will also have the opportunity to visit art galleries and local craft workshops, immersing yourself in the area’s rich cultural heritage. The district is also famous for its geishas, who continue to practice and preserve traditional arts in some of the historic teahouses.

The day concludes with the return to Kanazawa Station or Kyoto, ending a journey full of discoveries that combines stunning scenery, living traditions, and the cultural essence of the Hokuriku region. This itinerary offers a complete and unforgettable experience, allowing travelers to appreciate the deep connection between traditional Japan and nature.
