Trade Shanghai’s busy city buzz for the magical water‑town world of Wuzhen — a little utopia built upon canals, stone bridges and ancient wooden houses.
We depart Shanghai at around 13:00 and drive to Wuzhen East Zha.
Unlike many restored tourist‑only ancient towns, East Zha keeps its authentic original vibe. Local residents still live their daily lives inside this old quarter. Wander narrow alleyways, watch locals going about their everyday routines, and soak in genuine, unpolished Jiangnan water‑town life.
Around 17:00, we move on to Wuzhen West Zha.
As sunset falls, lanterns light up across the whole scenic area. The whole town transforms into a breathtaking night‑time water‑town wonderland. West Zha is globally well‑known for two huge annual events: the celebrated Wuzhen Theatre Festival, drawing artists and theatre lovers from all over the world, and the World Internet Conference, where global tech leaders gather every year. You can feel the perfect mix of ancient charm and modern global influence right here.
Within West Zha, you are free to explore at your own pace. Treat yourself to an optional traditional row‑boat ride gliding along candle‑lit canals, or join the popular blue‑print calico handicraft workshop to make your own unique souvenir. These experiences are at your own expense.
Enjoy the dream‑like utopian night scenery of water lanes glowing under thousands of red lanterns.
At approximately 20:00, we wrap up our wonderful day tour and head back to Shanghai.
