What you can expect

Trade Shanghai for the cool bamboo-covered mountains of Moganshan on this 1-day hike. Coach pickup from Shanghai at 7:15 AM, arriving at the trailhead around 10:30.

Climb the historic Jiang Gong Trail to Guwangwu Platform with its 270-degree panoramic views over endless bamboo seas. Continue past the famous Naked Castle resort and reach the 758-meter Moganshan Peak, where you can spot Republic-era villas tucked into the green hillsides.

In the afternoon, descend through Luhuadang Park and the Zhonghua Mountain Ancient Path. Wander past the elegant 1920s villas where Chinese intellectuals, foreign missionaries, and Shanghai elite once spent their summers escaping the heat.

Return to Shanghai by 7:30 PM. Suitable for ages 8-65. Bring picnic snacks, water, hiking shoes, and your camera.
