According to Qing dynasty scholar Zhang Taiyan, the ancient Chinese nation resided in the regions of Yong and Liang, and “the country was named after Mount Hua” — hence Mount Hua has long been known as the “Root of Huaxia.” Mount Hua is not merely a mountain; it is a symbol of the Chinese nation's willpower and a spiritual identity recognized by all Chinese people.

Geological Wonder: An Epic of a Single Granite Block
Mount Hua is composed of a single massive granite block. About 70 million years ago, orogenic movements caused the Mount Hua region to rise dramatically, forming a landscape as precipitous as if “cleaved by axes and knives.” This unique geological structure created the magnificent spectacle of five peaks standing in a circle with cliffs rising thousands of feet. The Mount Hua ticket is valid for 48 hours and includes the main scenic area, Xiyue Temple, and Xianyu Valley.
Mount Hua is a holy site of the Quanzhen School of Taoism, listed as the “Fourth Grotto-Heaven” and called the “Supreme Immortal Grotto-Heaven.” Patriarch Chen Tuan once cultivated here. The legend of Zhao Kuangyin losing Mount Hua to Chen Tuan in a chess game has been passed down for a thousand years, giving rise to the saying “Mount Hua has never paid grain taxes since ancient times.” Jin Yong's “Huashan Sword Debate” further made Mount Hua a symbol of the pinnacle of martial arts in wuxia culture.
