Seoul is fast, crowded and constantly changing. But tucked between the busy streets are quieter places where older ways of living, worshipping and making things still survive.

This small-group morning walk explores that side of the city through preserved hanok neighborhoods, temple customs, traditional craft streets and Korean tea.

We begin in Bukchon, where hanok homes still stand among modern Seoul. As we walk through the neighborhood, you’ll learn how traditional Korean homes were shaped by family life, seasonal living and social customs — and how these neighborhoods survived the city’s rapid redevelopment.

From there, we continue to Jogyesa Temple, one of the most important Buddhist temples in central Seoul. Rather than simply passing through, we take time to understand some of the everyday customs you may see around you: bowing, prayer and making wishes for family, health, exams, work or peace of mind.

Your guide will prepare a small yeomju, Korean prayer beads, so you can make your own quiet wish at the temple.

Afterwards, we continue through streets known for traditional Korean crafts, where you can still find calligraphy, handmade paper, seals, brushes and small artisan shops.

Then we slow the pace at a traditional Korean tea house, where tea is included. This is not a rushed drink stop — it is a chance to sit down, rest and experience one of the quieter parts of the morning together.

We finish through old hanok alleys where traditional buildings have found new lives as cafés, restaurants and small businesses. It is a beautiful part of Seoul, but also a place to talk about how preservation, tourism and gentrification increasingly overlap.

This experience is intentionally kept small and personal, rather than operating as a large walking group. It is designed for travelers who enjoy conversation, cultural context and a slower pace rather than simply checking off landmarks.
