The Civic Archaeological Museum and Museum of the City of Savona (Màr), located in the 15th-century “Loggia del Castello Nuovo,” was inaugurated on April 7, 1990, on the occasion of the reopening to the public of part of the Priamàr complex. The effective integration of the museum space and the archaeological areas left visible allows visitors to follow a journey back in time, both through the rooms of the Palazzo della Loggia, which have been reused over time, and through the exhibition of artifacts arranged chronologically and distributed over two floors. A visit to the excavation area of the Byzantine necropolis (4th-7th century AD) is particularly fascinating, where you can see traces of the village of the Liguri Sabazi and the early stages of settlement in the area within the structures belonging to the medieval palace of the Loggia. The museum has no architectural barriers and has a route for people with visual impairments with tactile points and captions in Braille.
