A hike through Sarajevo's vibrant history: Just a few minutes from the Old Town, you'll take the cable car up to Trebević, the city's local mountain, where nature, art, Olympic anecdotes and the traces of the siege in the 1990s come together.
You will hike right along the abandoned bobsleigh track that was built for the 1984 Winter Olympics. Once a symbol of national pride and the Olympic spirit, it is now one of the most impressive “lost places” in Europe: covered in graffiti and murals, it is slowly transforming into an open-air gallery – and we will walk right along it!
During the hike, your guide will bring the spirit of the Olympics to life with anecdotes and videos, and will also make the Siege of Sarajevo more tangible. Of course, there is always time to stop for photos!
Halfway through, we’ll take a break at a local restaurant with views over Sarajevo and Bosnian mezze. Because after a hike, food always tastes twice as good.
The final descent takes you through the Mahalas – Sarajevo’s historic Ottoman neighborhoods – and back to the Town Hall. If the weather is good, we can watch the sun set over the city.
This tour feels like an excursion with a good friend – and shows you parts of Sarajevo that not everyone gets to see.
