Overview

  • Discover Sapa beyond the usual tourist routes on a 2-day trek led by a local H’Mong guide. Follow quieter village trails through rice terraces and Muong Hoa Valley while learning about H’Mong culture, traditions and everyday life directly from the local community. Stay overnight at a local homestay, observe local artisans making traditional H’Mong handicrafts, and have the opportunity to try on traditional clothing for photos. Join a H’Mong cooking class and prepare traditional dishes together. At the end of the experience, each guest receives a handmade copper bracelet—a small cultural keepsake inspired by H’Mong tradition. Rather than simply passing through the villages, this journey gives you time to connect with local people and experience Sapa from a more personal and authentic perspective.

There is a side of Sapa that most travelers never see—one that reveals itself when you leave the busy streets behind and explore with someone who has called these mountains home all her life. I’m Surelee, a Hmong woman born and raised in Muong Hoa Valley. Today, we’ll follow local paths once used by my family to reach school, rice fields, and neighboring villages. We’ll trek through traditional villages, rice terraces, and peaceful valleys before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant in Lao Chai. Along the way, discover Hmong traditions, beliefs, daily life, hemp weaving, natural indigo, and embroidery.

In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Surelee Homestay, my family’s traditional Hmong home in Ban Pho Village. After a full day of trekking, you’ll have time to shower, relax, and settle in. Later, join us for a complimentary cooking class, prepare local dishes together, and enjoy a homemade family dinner. After dinner, unwind and spend a peaceful night at the homestay. Your large luggage can be transferred here in advance from pickup point, so you only need to carry a small backpack during the trek.
