What you can expect

There’s a Side of Sapa Most Travelers Will Never See

Not because it’s far away, but because it reveals itself when you slow down, leave the busy tourist streets behind, and explore with someone who has called these mountains home all her life.

Hello, my name is Surelee. I’m a Hmong woman born and raised in a small village in the Muong Hoa Valley, about 9 km from Sapa. The trails we’ll follow aren’t found on a map—they’re the paths I walked to school, the tracks my parents took to our rice fields, and the mountain trails my grandparents have walked for generations.

After studying tourism and spending several years in the city, I chose to return home because I realised Sapa’s true beauty isn’t only its landscapes, but its people, traditions, and way of life. That’s why I created Local Path—to share the real Sapa through local eyes.

Day 1 – Hidden Trails & A Traditional Hmong Homestay

We’ll meet at Local Path Sapa, our meeting point in the centre of town, before leaving the crowds behind. Together we’ll trek through ancient villages, rice terraces, and peaceful valleys where local families still farm as they always have.

After lunch at a local restaurant in Lao Chai, we’ll continue into the mountains. Along the way I’ll share Hmong traditions, beliefs, festivals, and daily life while you meet farmers, children playing outside wooden homes, and women making traditional textiles from hemp, natural indigo, and embroidery.

You’ll also enjoy a hands-on Hmong handicraft experience, wear traditional Hmong clothing for photos, and receive a handcrafted copper bracelet as a meaningful keepsake.

By late afternoon we’ll arrive at my family’s traditional Hmong homestay in Ban Pho village. We’ll cook together during a complimentary cooking class, enjoy homemade mountain dishes, and share stories around the family table. If you bring large luggage, we’ll transport it to the homestay so you can trek with only a small backpack.

Day 2 – More Hidden Trails & Farewell

After breakfast, we’ll continue along different hidden trails through neighbouring valleys, bamboo forests, hidden waterfalls, and villages, discovering another side of Sapa few travellers ever experience.

We’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Giang Ta Chai, then return to Ban Pho village to collect your luggage before transportation back to Sapa town, with drop-off near the Stone Church.

Every booking helps create sustainable employment for local Hmong women as guides, cooks, and artisans while preserving traditions passed down through generations.

I don’t hope you’ll leave Sapa with only beautiful photographs. I hope you’ll leave with friendships, shared meals, unforgettable stories, and memories that stay with you long after your journey ends.

I’d be honored to welcome you into my home and share my world with you.
