On Day 1, travelers are welcomed at the airport or bus station and taken to the Green Jungle Tours office, then to a hotel via a 40-minute boat ride. The hotel greets guests with a local fruit drink and a briefing on its policies. After settling in, a trip to Monkey Island offers a chance to see diverse monkey species, sloths, and turtles. Post-lunch, a two-hour guided jungle trek through the Tambopata National Reserve showcases medicinal plants and ancient trees, with potential wildlife sightings. The day concludes with a nocturnal boat trip to spot riverbank animals.
Day 2 starts with an early trip to Sandoval Lake, known for its rich biodiversity. After a 3 km walk, a rowboat tour of the lake may reveal black caimans, giant otters, and various birds. The afternoon includes a cultural visit to a Matsigenka family, learning traditional skills and customs. An evening jungle walk seeks out nocturnal animals, followed by dinner and rest at the hotel.
Day 3 begins with a dawn boat ride to “La Cachuela” for a bird-watching experience at a clay lick. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, the group visits a local farm to learn about rainforest agriculture. The afternoon hike leads to a 700-year-old tree and across hanging bridges to explore the canopy.
Day 4 is an adventure-filled day with a kayak trip along the Madre de Dios River, observing turtles, caimans, and birds. The evening brings a visit to Lake Yacumama for sunset views, birdwatching, and piranha fishing, with a return to the hotel at night.
