  • Cajón del Maipo is one of the most iconic natural areas in the Metropolitan Region and a true green lung for Santiago. Inside, you'll find Laguna Negra, nestled in the Yeso River Valley at an altitude of 2,800 meters. It's surrounded by imposing Andean mountains and geological formations that reflect the natural history of the central mountain range.

This guided trek invites you to explore an area of high scenic and environmental value, where nature is expressed in its purest state. The route lets you appreciate high-altitude glaciers, extensive valleys, and panoramic views that are an essential part of the water basin that supplies the capital. In this context, Laguna Negra stands out not only for the beauty of its crystal-clear waters, but also for its relevance as a natural reservoir, becoming a key point to understand the strategic importance of the Cajón del Maipo in the city's daily life.

The experience includes a 12-kilometer round-trip hike, with an approximate elevation gain of 300 meters, making it a medium-difficulty activity, ideal for people with moderate physical fitness who are looking for a full and well-organized day in the mountains. Along the way, you'll walk along trails that offer natural viewpoints, spaces for contemplation, and moments of deep connection with the environment, away from the urban rhythm.
The activity is guided by certified professionals, who give an initial safety talk and accompany the group throughout the day, guaranteeing a responsible and reliable experience. This support lets you enjoy the mountain with peace of mind, promoting responsible tourism practices and respect for the natural environment.
Trekking to Laguna Negra is much more than a hike: it's an invitation to discover the essence of Cajón del Maipo, a territory where nature, geological history, and environmental importance come together in a single landscape. Every step on this route reinforces the value of conserving these spaces and recognizing the mountain range as an indispensable heritage for future generations.
Choose to walk with those who know the territory and turn every outing into a memorable experience. Book your spot and discover Laguna Negra with local guides from Cajón del Maipo
