We'll start our trip from your hotel in Salou, Cambrils, or Tarragona at the agreed time, heading to our first stop, the charming village of Siurana, on a journey of approximately 1 hour.
We'll head to the beautiful town of Montblanc, famous for hosting the largest walled enclosure in Catalonia. We'll stroll through its streets and admire the Church of Santa Maria de Montblanc, the first Romanesque church located in the upper part of a town.
After exploring Montblanc, we'll visit the Celler Cooperatiu de Cornudella de Montsant, a Modernist winery founded in 1919 and considered an industrial monument. The winery is known for its parabolic arches designed by the architect Cèsar Martinell. Here, you can tour the facilities, learn about the history and culture of wine, and enjoy a guided tasting. If you like, you can also visit the vineyards in a 4x4 and take a stroll along the old Camino de los Cartujos (Carthusian Way) to the winery.
Time for lunch at a typical regional farmhouse.
We'll then continue to Siurana, a picturesque village known for its stone houses and cobbled streets. Perched atop a cliff, it overlooks the village's only entrance, offering spectacular views of the surrounding area, including the Siurana Reservoir and the nearby brown and red mountains.
Our visit will include Siurana Castle, an ancient ruined Moorish fortress that stands on the highest part of the village. Although today only the base of the tower and a few walls remain, this place was of great importance in the Middle Ages. It was the last castle recaptured from the Muslims by the Christian army in Catalonia, marking a significant milestone in the region's history.
We'll head back to Salou, rounding off a day full of history, culture, and flavors. You will be dropped off at your hotel, bringing to a close a day filled with discoveries and unforgettable experiences.
