Leave Riyadh behind and spend an afternoon and evening on the dramatic cliffs of the Edge of the World, one of Saudi Arabia's most striking natural landmarks.

Meet your guide at Tijan Plaza in Riyadh and travel by air-conditioned 4x4 across the Najd plateau. On the way, stop at a gazelle reserve to watch Arabian gazelles moving through the open desert, one of the few places near Riyadh where you can see them.

Continue on to the Tuwaiq Mountains, where the escarpment falls away into the plain below. Your guide leads you on a hike along the cliff top, with plenty of time to take in the views and photograph the landscape from the edge. Our guides speak both Arabic and English, so you can ask about the geology of the escarpment, the old caravan routes that crossed this plateau, and the wildlife that lives here.

As the afternoon cools, settle in for the sunset. Watch the desert change colour from the cliff, share Arabic coffee and dates with the group, and stay for the first stars of the evening before the drive back.

Snacks and water are provided throughout. The group gathers at 2:00 PM and returns to the meeting point in Riyadh at around 9:00 PM, so you get the full afternoon, the sunset and the early night sky rather than a quick trip out and back.
