What you can expect
Meet your guide at the pre-arranged meeting point and begin your walk along the downstream stretch of the Ganges toward the Beatles Ashram, located about 1.5 km away.
Along the way, visit Geeta Bhavan Ashram and Parmarth Niketan Ashram, two of the most renowned spiritual centers in Rishikesh. Geeta Bhavan is especially popular among Indian spiritual seekers, while Parmarth Niketan attracts a large number of international visitors. Both ashrams sit beautifully along the banks of the holy Ganges, offering a serene and vibrant spiritual atmosphere.
Meet & enter (Chaurasi Kutiya gate) — Start at the main entrance and buy your ticket. The ashram sits inside a protected area and has a simple welcome/gate area before the trails.
Welcome garden & shaded path — Walk through the quiet, tree-lined approach that sets the mood: birds, dappled light and the sound of the forest around the Rajaji area. This short stretch is perfect for a slow warm-up.
Ved Bhawan (main hall) — The large hall where Maharishi Mahesh Yogi taught TM now features murals and photo displays documenting the ashram’s history and the Beatles’ stay. It’s a great first stop to get context.
Chaurasi Kutiya — the dome meditation huts — Explore the iconic dome-shaped kutiya (meditation cells). These stone domes are the heart of the site and the exact spaces associated with the band’s meditation and creativity.
rishikeshnomads.comGraffiti & mural trail — Move from hut to hut discovering colorful murals, portraits of the Beatles, and contemporary street art created by local and visiting artists — the most photogenic section of the walk.
Quiet meditation corners & caves — Find small niches and caves for a few minutes of silence or relaxed reflection; many visitors sit here to soak up the atmosphere that once inspired songs and meditation practice.
Photo-worthy architecture (arches & ruins) — Wander among the ruined classrooms, arched facades and library remains — atmospheric backdrops for photos and a peek into the ashram’s old layout.
Riverside viewpoint (short walk out) — A short path from the compound leads toward green stretches overlooking the Ganges; ideal for a pause and to feel the riverside calm of Rishikesh.
Artist installations & rotating murals — Depending on timing you may see new murals and installations — Rishikesh’s art trail often extends beyond the ashram walls into nearby lanes.
Exit, local cafés & souvenir stalls — Finish at the exit where small vendors and cafés nearby offer tea, snacks and Beatles-themed keepsakes — a relaxed end to the walk. ID: Foreign visitors must carry a passport or photocopy to enter
