Your adventure to Sugar Loaf mountain begins in the charming seaside neighborhood of Urca with a relaxing walk along the scenic Claudio Coutinho Trail - a coastal path nestled between the Atlantic Forest and ocean cliffs. It’s the perfect warm-up, and with a little luck, you’ll spot playful marmosets along the way!
After the trail, we’ll hike for about 15-20 minutes through the forest until we reach the start of the climbing section. There, we’ll do a safety briefing and equipment check-then the real adventure begins! You’ll hike along rocky paths with stunning views, including a fun and easy rock climbing section that’s perfect for beginners. No experience needed-just a spirit of adventure!
As you climb higher, Rio’s beauty unfolds beneath you. From the 396-meter summit of Sugarloaf Mountain, take in a breathtaking 360° view of Christ the Redeemer, Copacabana Beach, Niterói, and Guanabara Bay.
To wrap up, enjoy a free cable car ride down to the nearby Morro da Urca, soaking in one last dose of unforgettable views. From there, we’ll take a short hike back down to our meeting point.
