Day 1 — Sembalun Village to Sembalun Crater Rim (Camping)

Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup from Senaru or Sembalun, followed by breakfast before driving about one hour to Sembalun Village. Once you arrive, you will register at the Rinjani Information Center (RIC), meet your guide and porters, and prepare for the trek.

Start your journey with a gentle 2-hour walk to POS 1 (1,300 m), where you’ll take a short 5–10 minute break. Continue trekking for about one hour to POS 2 (1,500 m).

At POS 2, we will take a longer break of around 2 hours. Here, enjoy a freshly-prepared lunch with hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or lemon tea while relaxing in the savanna landscape.

After lunch, continue the climb toward higher altitudes:
Trek about 1 hour to POS 3 (1,800 m)
Continue another hour to POS 4 (2,000 m)
Then begin the final 2–3 hour ascent to reach the Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m)

The trail gets steeper between POS 3, POS 4, and the crater rim, but the views become increasingly rewarding.

Upon reaching the crater rim, you will set up camp for the night. Relax with a warm dinner while enjoying:

A golden sunset over the peaks
Stunning views of Segara Anak Lake
Clear night skies full of stars
A panoramic view of northern Lombok
Spend the night in your tent and rest for the early summit push.

Day 2 — Summit Sunrise & Descent to Sembalun

Wake up at 1:30 AM for hot coffee or tea and a light breakfast before beginning the ascent. The climb to the summit typically takes around 3 hours, depending on your pace.

The trail to the peak is challenging with loose volcanic sand and gravel, but your guide will assist you throughout the climb. Since you’ll be trekking in the dark, a headlamp or flashlight is essential.

Reach the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726 m) in time for sunrise and enjoy a stunning 360-degree panorama, featuring:

Mount Agung and Bali glowing in the morning light
The sweeping landscapes of Sumbawa
Lombok, the Gilis, and the entire caldera
A magical sunrise painting the sky in vibrant colors
Take time for photos and a short break at the summit before heading back down.

Once you arrive back at the crater rim campsite, your porters will have a freshly-prepared breakfast waiting for you. After resting, begin the descent back to Sembalun Village along the same scenic route as Day 1.

You will arrive in Sembalun around early afternoon, completing your unforgettable 2-day Rinjani adventure.
