What to expect
Meet the instructor in the designated parking lot
Once you're equipped with a helmet, an individual headlamp, knee pads, and gloves if you wish, you'll walk for 15 minutes on the roped lava to reach the entrance of the tunnel, with the guide describing the landscape around you
Enter the lava tunnels with a few initial explanations from your guide while you get used to the darkness
Discover the lava tunnels: ceilings from which dark chocolate seems to flow (stalactites), lava benches, forests of stalagmites, a “dodo”, a “shark”, and many other things if you let your imagination run wild. You'll often be standing, sometimes bending or squatting, as you slowly progress through the tunnels at your own pace
After 2 to 3 hours, you'll leave the lava tunnels to end the experience
