Peninsula Valdes is a Protected Natural Area.
The importance of Peninsula Valdes lies in the fact that its coastline is home to different species of marine fauna such as orcas, dolphins, sea lions, elephant seals, penguins, and many other species.
The calm waters of the gulfs and the rugged coastline make this area a true sanctuary for marine life.
Peninsula Valdes was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. Every year, it welcomes thousands of Argentine and foreign tourists who come to enjoy wildlife watching and the beautiful coastal landscapes.
