Discover the magic of St Lawrence River as your winter playground on an ice canoeing experience. Perfect for first-timers, this all-inclusive activity is a great introduction to the historical role of ice canoeing in Quebec. Your experience begins near the boat ramp located around a 15-minute drive from downtown Quebec City.

On arrival, you will be greeted warmly by your guide. Hear about the ice canoe’s historical role in maritime connections on the Saint-Lawrence. Suit up in your specialized equipment, learn the basic techniques, and go over the safety instructions. With the briefing out of the way, head toward the river. Each route is adapted according to the current weather conditions and tides. Canoers (that’s you) will have the opportunity to try both the oars and the crampons (aka “scooters”).

Pause around half-way to walk on the ice, sip hot chocolate, enjoy a snack, and take a few selfies. You will be alone with your small-group on the river with a view that will leave you even more breathless than the actual ice canoeing. Then, return to the mainland so you can warm up and debrief. Your guide will capture photos of your activity along the way, which will be shared with you in the days following your outing.
