What you can expect

Imagine reaching one of the last untouched corners of Patagonia, where nature still preserves its purest essence. Unlike national parks crowded with infrastructure, the trail to San Isidro Lighthouse takes you through pristine landscapes along the legendary Strait of Magellan.

We start with pick-up from your accommodation in Punta Arenas (urban area) between 8:00 and 8:30 am. From there, we travel 70 km south along Route 9 until we reach Punta Árbol, the starting point of our adventure.

The hike begins along a pebble beach that follows the coast of the Strait. The trail is about 5.5 km (each way) and takes approximately 2 hours at a normal pace. During the walk, your guide will introduce you to the unique flora and fauna of Patagonia, and with a bit of luck, we may spot dolphins or even whales swimming close to shore.

After an inspiring trek, we reach the San Isidro Lighthouse — the southernmost lighthouse on the American continent. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of Dawson Island, the Darwin Mountain Range, and the Brunswick Peninsula, weather permitting. This is the perfect moment to take photos, rest, and connect with the powerful energy of this remote place.

We will spend around 30–40 minutes at the lighthouse to eat, hydrate, and explore the surroundings before heading back along the same coastal trail. On the return, we also have the option to stop at the Geographical Landmark of Chile, which marks a symbolic point of reference in the region.

Finally, we drive back to Punta Arenas, arriving in the late afternoon with unforgettable memories of one of Patagonia’s most exclusive treks.
