What you can expect

Hop into a restored 1979 Zastava 101 and discover the side of Pula that most visitors never find.

La Yugo Vita is a private two-hour ride through the Yugoslav-era history of the city. Your driver and guide knows this city from the inside, the stories you will hear are not in any guidebook.

The route takes you past the Uljanik shipyard, one of Yugoslavia's biggest employers, and through Veruda, where workers were given apartments as part of the socialist system. You will pass old military zones, still closed off decades later, and stop at Karlo Rojc, a former Yugoslav army centre now home to artists, NGOs, and activists.

The car itself is part of the experience. The Stojadin's engine sounds like something between a sewing machine and a tractor. People on the street wave, smile, and occasionally stop to share their own memories of the same model. That does not happen on a minibus tour.

At some point during the ride, if you want it, you can take the wheel yourself.

Every ride ends back where it started. You will take a small souvenir home and a version of Pula that most visitors completely miss.
