IWe will start our excursion by visiting the city of Llanquihue, famous
for its sausages and the origin of the Maullín River. It is part of the old
Settlers' Route. In the city, we will visit Los Cisnes Beach and the Pier,
which offers a beautiful view of the lake and the volcanoes. Then we
will skirt Lake Llanquihue and head towards Frutillar. We arrive in this
town, a beautiful village with Bavarian reminiscences, from where its
first settlers originated.
Frutillar emerged in 1856 as a shipping dock, soon giving rise to
tanneries, mills, breweries, and more. We will stroll around its
beautiful old German-style houses, admiring their well-kept gardens
and the incomparable view of the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes.
Passengers can optionally visit the German Colonial Museum, which
showcases the life of the settlers, or enjoy a coffee with typical
German pastries from this area.
On its waterfront, we will observe the Teatro del Lago, where the famous “Frutillar
Musical Weeks” are held annually with worldwide attendance.
From here, we will head to Puerto Octay, also located on the northern shore of the
lake, marked by German influence and the first port for agricultural products to
Osorno. We will explore its old streets and Plaza de Armas.
