What you can expect

The walking tour starts at the Macorix Museum House of Rum. Discover all about the production and history of the country's most important export product, with a tasting, of course.
Along one of the oldest streets in the city, Cale 30 Marzo and Cale Imbert, we reach “La Chocolateria”. You will learn everything about the cultivation and production of Dominican chocolate on site, including, of course, some sampling.
Right around the corner are the city's most famous highlights: the completely pink “Paseo Dona Blanca” and the Street of Umbrellas.
Once you have taken your photos, you will then have the opportunity to purchase small souvenirs or gifts at Island Treasures.
Now we have reached the town center: Independence Park with the Town Hall and the Cathedral of San Felipe are a popular destination for the locals, especially on weekends. We recommend simply soaking up the city life with a typical Dominican ice cream.
From here, the path leads to the renowned Monsenor cigar factory, where a short tour of cigar rolling provides an insight into an important tradition. Immediately afterwards, a small pedestrian zone awaits our visit.
Along the largest street, the waterfront promenade “Malecon”, we continue past the popular photo spot “Puerto Plata” to one of the city's most historic squares: Fortaleza San Felipe. From the fortress, which once protected the city, the path takes us to the former train station of Puerto Plata, which, although it was an important transport hub in the past, is barely recognizable today.
Our tour ends here.
