During WWII, a large concentration of Jews left Europe for Shanghai; from this tour, you will learn more about their lives as well as the history of Shanghai in the 1920s and 30s.
At the beginning of World War II, about 30,000 Jewish people fled from Europe to Shanghai, calling themselves “Shanghai landers.” Most settled in the neighborhood of the Hongkou District. The Ohel Moishe Synagogue served as the spiritual heart of this Jewish community, and currently houses the Museum for Jewish Refugees. You'll also visit Huoshan Park, a peaceful place where the Monument in Memory of Jewish Refugees now stands.
