The Falaj Al Khatmeen is one of the most remarkable examples of Oman’s ancient irrigation heritage and is proudly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in Birkat Al Mouz, this traditional irrigation system dates back over 1,500 years and continues to function efficiently today. The falaj system works by channeling water from underground sources and mountain springs through a network of narrow channels, distributing it fairly to farms and households. After exploring Birkat Al Mouz Old Village and its ancient falaj irrigation system, the journey continues with a scenic mountain drive up to Jebel Akhdar, also known as the “Green Mountain.” As the road climbs higher, enjoy breathtaking views of rugged cliffs, terraced farms, and cool mountain air.

The next stop is Al Suwgra Village, a hidden gem perched along the mountainside. This centuries-old village is famous for its beautifully preserved stone houses and peaceful atmosphere. Walking through its narrow paths offers a unique glimpse into traditional Omani mountain life.

After visiting Al Suwgra Village, we will continue to Diana’s Point for a scenic photo stop. Take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and deep canyons—an unforgettable highlight of the trip. Afterward, we begin the comfortable drive back to Muscat.

The drive from Jebel Akhdar back to Muscat takes approximately 2 hours, offering a smooth journey as you descend from the mountains to the city.
