What you can expect

Visit Bago, a former capital city of the Mon Kingdom in the 16th century, on a private, guided tour from Yangon. Admire the impressive pagodas, holy temples, and a stunning reclining Buddha on this full-day excursion.

On an 80-mile (130-km) drive northeast to Bago, listen as your expert guide explains the history of this ancient city and visit Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most revered pagodas in Myanmar. At this pagoda built 1,000 years ago and believed to enshrine 2 strands of hairs of the Buddha, wonder at the height of its stupa, which is known as the tallest in Myanmar.

Next, climb to Hintha Gon Pagoda and take in a panoramic view of Bago from the hilltop. Watch for the beautiful decoration of Hamsa bird, a mythical creature believed to have landed here. After a tasty Burmese lunch at local restaurant, marvel at one of the world's largest and finest reclining Buddhas at Shwethalyaung and admire the pagoda's impressive mosaic art.

Then head to the great Mahazedi to take pictures of the miniature version of the pagoda, white elephant, and soldiers at the Victory Ground of King Bayinnaung. Your last stop is Kyaik Pun Pagoda which is known for a statue of 4 giant Buddhas seated in the 4 points of the compass against a massive brick pillar.
