Experience the indigenous lifestyle in the Amazon rainforest. Live 1–7 days in an indigenous Ticuna community in the jungle near Leticia, guided by a Swedish host.
This is a personal authentic experience, not a standard tour. You’ll be welcomed into the daily life of the native people in the Amazon jungle, without any other tourists. The experience includes:
- A private house
- All regular meals plus fruits, juices, water
- All local transportation
- Daily tours with the native people
- Your Swedish guide, present 24/7
Your host
You will be accompanied by me, a Swedish 28-year-old with unique local knowledge and deep relationships in the region. I am a permanent member of the indigenous community and have lived here over a year. I am fluent in English, Swedish, and Spanish, and will translate all interactions between you and the native people. I will be present at all times to make sure your experience is amazing and safe.
Your experience is customized according to your wishes, but may look like this:
Day 1:
I meet you in Leticia or Puerto Nariño (at the airport or your hotel). We travel up the Amazon River by boat towards the indigenous community. You may see monkeys, dolphins, and native villages on the way. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the indigenous people and you’ll be served natural food from the region. I’ll show you around, where you can pick fruits, swim, and relax whenever you want. You’ll become familiar with the indigenous culture and their natural lifestyle in the jungle.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we leave for a morning hike in the jungle. You will encounter wild animals such as monkeys, parrots, tortoises, and others you have never seen before. We return to the village, where you’ll be served lunch. You may take a bath in the river next to your house. In the afternoon, we travel by canoe through the rainforest by tiny rivers in the jungle. You may learn to spear-fish along the way. We return to the community for dinner.
Day 3-6:
Depending on the length of your stay, you may:
- visit nearby villages in Peru and Brazil, accessible by boat
- learn to make natural handcraft, such as clothes, fishing spears, and furniture
- do several jungle hikes, both night and day, to encounter as much wildlife as possible
- learn about medicinal plants and the local ecology of the Amazon rainforest
- visit other nearby indigenous communities along the Amazon river
- be more familiar with the indigenous culture and lifestyle
Last day:
After breakfast, we bring you to any nearby location you want (e.g. Puerto Nariño or Leticia).
Safety
Despite the remote setting, the experience is well organized. The community is located 30 minutes from Puerto Nariño, a nearby town with stores, pharmacies, tourist services and hospitals. Throughout your stay, you will have access to electricity and internet, allowing communication whenever you want. All transport and logistics are carefully planned, and the food is prepared with safety standards.
