Strolling through Prato means entering a surprising city, made up of unexpected twists and turns and atmospheres far removed from mass tourism. On this experiential tour, I will guide you through the beating heart of Chinatown, a lively and authentic neighborhood where the scents of street food, colorful signs, and family-run shops tell stories of migration, work, and community every day. Not the usual postcard image of Tuscany, but a multicultural and contemporary face that few have the courage to explore.

From there, we will move on to a place that preserves the city's industrial memory: the former Anonima Calamai, a large textile complex built in the early twentieth century and now transformed into a cultural hub. Walking among these buildings means breathing in the working-class soul of Prato, among converted warehouses and details that still speak of machines and textiles. It is a rare example of living industrial archaeology, not only preserved, but reinvented.

Within this space is Lanarchico, my artist's studio. Here you won't be just a spectator, but a protagonist: I'll guide you as you pick up brushes and colors, and together we'll create a small work of art that you can take with you. No experience is needed: it's about letting your inner child run free, finally giving vent to that hidden artist that everyone carries inside. While we paint, we will share stories and creative ideas in a convivial atmosphere made even more special by an aperitivo with drinks, served inside the studio.

This tour is designed for those looking for something different: not crowded monuments or endless lines, but hidden views, daily routines, and authentic conversations. I will take you to areas frequented only by residents, we will taste the typical crunchy schiacciata with olive oil from the last Italian bakery left in the neighborhood, I will tell you anecdotes about the real life of the Florentines and Prato locals, and I will open the doors of an atelier for you to become a real artist for a day.

It will be an urban journey that combines culture, history, and creativity: from the multicultural charm of Chinatown to the industrial archaeology of the former Anonima Calamai, to the intimate and fun experience of shared painting. A route that can reveal another Tuscany, more authentic, less predictable, one that surprises and leaves a strong impression.

If you want to experience Prato not as a tourist, but as a curious and engaged traveler, this tour is designed for you.

Less than 30 minutes by train from Florence, Prato can become the real hidden gem to discover before the onslaught of mass tourism.
After all, as a dear friend of mine says, “Prato is nothing more than the Brooklyn of Florence.”
