What you can expect
An early morning start is always a good idea and your meeting point would be at the Cassiopea desk on the main beach of Positano.
We recommend taking a leisurely cruise along the Sorrentina coastline and once you arrive at the island of Capri it is worth making several stops around the island to take in the beautiful grotto such as the Grotta Bianca (White Grotto), and the Grotta Meravigliosa (Marvelous Grotto) inside which you find the most marvelous stalagmites and stalactites.
When cruising around the island there are numerous wonders along the way including a Natural Arch, which watches over a small pond, believed to have been formed by the collapse of a cave.
When you cruise past the beautiful and mythical “Faraglioni” and on to Marina Piccola, which used to be a fishing village.
Continuing around the island there is another famous grotto, the Grotta Verde (Green Grotto), which takes its name from the reflective light entering from the other side.
You will recognize the lighthouse at Punta Carena, from postcards and travel articles, as you head along the western coast to the Grotta Azzurra or Blue Grotto. Those wishing to go inside the grotto can purchase an entrance ticket, at an additional cost, and transfer to a small rowing boat. (Please be aware there are often long queues to enter the grotto and this option is subject to weather conditions as well as the possible delay due to the length of the queues.)
From the Blue Grotto it’s a short cruise past Marina Grande, the Capri main dock.
Our suggested itinerary takes in all of these Island features. We recommend Marina Grande as the point of disembarkation because it's the best way to reach the town center “La Piazzetta”. Whilst the square is quite small, it is the center of the island and the ideal spot to enjoy a drink and watch the passing parade. Leave enough time to explore the island’s historical sites (Villa Jovis, Certosa, Augustus Gardens,Villa San Michele of Axel Munthe). Remember to save some time for shopping in the many luxurious boutiques!
To return to Positano you would meet back at Marina Marina at a pre-arranged time to board the boat for the remaining coastal tour of the island and across the sea following the Sorrento Coast.
It is worth bearing in mind that during the excursion our Captain will keep an eye out for a suitable spot where you can take in a swim or two, dependent upon weather conditions. Boats feature a shower to rinse off.
Finally, the excursion cost includes non-alcoholic refreshments and a glass of Prosecco.
Life jackets are provided on all our excursions.
Please note:
Blue Grotto entrance (weather permitting) ticket not included. We suggest you bring along sunblock and a jacket or jersey should the weather turn cool, and comfortable walking shoes. Although the Mediterranean Sea tends to be calm, if you suffer from seasickness we suggest you take a preventative remedy prior to departure.
There is an extra cost of 100€ as Capri dock fee (Vouchers).
