Imagine stepping through a doorway into the past. The present remains behind you, while before you lies a city frozen in time at the precise moment of an eruption that occurred two thousand years ago. This is how Pompeii welcomes you: silent, untouched, ready to tell you its story.
Our journey begins when our guide – an expert and passionate storyteller of the past – takes you to the Theaters area. Here, among the stone tiers and imaginary backdrops, you can almost hear the murmur of the Roman audience getting ready for the show. Immediately afterward, we move on to the Gladiators' Barracks, a place of training, toil, and glory: you can still seem to see the shadows of the fighters as they hone their movements, unaware of the fate that awaits them.
Leaving the entertainment area, you take the main street of the city. The shops follow one after another: bakeries, stores, small taverns. Here, your guide tells you about the carbonized products that were found, the street food, and the aromas and flavors that filled the air in the days of ancient Pompeii. Every step is a return to everyday Roman life: simple, lively, surprisingly modern.
Then you enter an aristocratic domus, a house where frescoes with still-vibrant colors decorate the walls. It is the heart of family life, the refuge of the wealthy Pompeians. The guide takes you to the most important room: the triclinium, the dining room. Through stories of dishes, customs and rituals, discover how sacred the act of eating together was for the Romans. From a viewing platform, you will visit the area of the new excavations, an excavation still underway where archaeologists are uncovering a new Roman house. From here, you will enter a very special and unique place: comfortably seated on a panoramic terrace, you will savor local delicacies with an all-Made-in-Italy aperitif. After this break, our route continues and, like every good citizen of the time, we go to the thermal baths at least once a day. Not just baths, but places for socializing, discussion and relaxation. Here you can relive the different stages of the bathing ritual: from the caldarium to the frigidarium, amid imagined steam and stones smoothed by time.
The next stop is the most unusual and surprising district of the city: the area where prostitution, which was legal and regulated at the time, constituted a real economy. Among engravings and tiny spaces, discover a human and often overlooked side of everyday Roman life.
Finally, you arrive at the Forum, the beating heart of the city: political, religious, and commercial. This is where the fate of Pompeii was decided; it is here that, among columns and statues, you can most keenly sense the grandeur of Roman civilization.
