Marvel at the magic of Pitigliano, one of the most spectacular and charming villages in the Tuscan Maremma.
On this 2-hour guided walking tour, you can explore underground Pitigliano and admire the town's most significant historic buildings.
I will guide you through a maze of cobbled streets, flower-lined stairways and panoramic terraces that offer unique views of the surrounding valleys.
The real highlight of the tour will be the fascinating journey through the history of Pitigliano's Jewish community. From the 16th century onwards, the village became a safe haven for Jews fleeing the Papal States, giving rise to an extraordinary peaceful coexistence and a cultural fusion that has earned Pitigliano the title of “Little Jerusalem.”
We will visit the Synagogue and the Jewish Quarter, which is entirely carved out of tuff: the Ritual Bath, the Unleavened Bread Bakery, the Wine Cellar and the Kosher Slaughterhouse.
