Discover the joy of fresh, homemade bread in this hands-on 3-course cooking class in Phoenix. Guided by Chef Elena, you’ll learn essential breadmaking techniques as you work with soft, enriched yeasted dough made with flour, eggs, butter and milk. This 2-hour experience is designed to help you understand the process behind great bread, from mixing and kneading to shaping and baking.
Begin your 3-course baking experience by preparing a versatile enriched dough that can be used for sweet or savory breads. Then, make a vibrant sunflower seed pesto with Pecorino Romano, garlic, lemon and olive oil. You’ll use it to fill and shape a beautiful pull-apart pesto star bread that looks impressive but feels approachable with step-by-step guidance.
Next, practice braiding techniques as you create an 8-strand black and white seed loaf topped with poppy seeds, black sesame seeds and white sesame seeds, finished with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. At the end of class, enjoy the full 3-course artisan bread spread you helped create and take home any extras to share. Guests are welcome to bring wine or beer to enjoy during the class.
