There is a border on Pantelleria that belongs neither to the land nor to the sea: it is the thin line where the two worlds have been meeting and challenging each other for millennia. This is where Il Lago Nascosto comes to life, a hike of about 5 km along the island's coastal ecosystem, one of the richest and most surprising in the entire Pantelleria Island National Park.
You walk on a geologically young territory, born of fire and shaped by wind and water, yet capable of hosting almost all of the island's plant species. Every step tells a story of extraordinary biodiversity: aromatic shrubs, wildflowers, and Mediterranean scrub that perfumes and colors an ever-changing landscape.
The route passes by places of rare beauty. Cala Cinque Denti welcomes the hiker with its jagged morphology, rocks carved by time into shapes that seem almost deliberate. Then comes the Laghetto Senzanome, a small sea basin nestled among the rocks, where you can stop to swim in water that tastes of the wild and salt, one of those places you won't easily forget. The path continues towards Punta Spadillo, where the large lighthouse stands alone, a silent witness to the presence of man on this border island.
Accompanied by an expert guide, you immerse yourself in a changing landscape that speaks to those who know how to listen: to the curious botanist, to the nature photographer, to those who simply seek the pleasure of walking with their gaze free on the horizon.
