A great example of Salvador’s colonial architecture is the snow-white Monte Serrat fortress, built back in 1742 and overlooking a small beach and the whole bay area. Enjoy more spectacular views as the Lacerda Elevator takes you down from an altitude of 236 feet. Back on sea level, cross the street to visit the Mercado Modelo, famous for its handicrafts.
