What you can expect

  • Experience the Panama Canal from the water on a Panama Canal partial transit tour through Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks. Travel aboard a shared sightseeing vessel, enjoy lunch and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, and discover the canal’s history through commentary in English and Spanish.

Enter working lock chambers and cruise through the canal’s Pacific section. This is a partial transit, rather than a full crossing between the Pacific and Caribbean.

    PASS THROUGH THE CANAL LOCKS

Experience Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks from aboard your boat. Watch the massive gates open and close as the gravity-fed water system raises or lowers your vessel. See the towering chamber walls up close while your guide explains how the locks move ships between the Pacific Ocean and the canal’s higher inland waters.

CRUISE MIRAFLORES LAKE & CULEBRA CUT

Travel across Miraflores Lake and through Culebra Cut, also known as Gaillard Cut, the passage excavated through the Continental Divide. Discover the challenges involved in constructing this waterway and its continuing importance to international shipping.

Admire forested banks, canal infrastructure and views of Centennial Bridge. The route also passes beneath the Bridge of the Americas, with views toward Panama Bay and the city skyline along the Pacific approach.

    ENJOY LUNCH ON BOARD

Enjoy lunch and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks aboard, with time to take in the scenery and listen to your guide’s commentary. Share the experience with fellow travelers and keep your camera ready for passing vessels and changing views along the canal.

    NORTHBOUND OR SOUTHBOUND ROUTE

Your cruise operates northbound or southbound according to the day’s schedule.

On a northbound sailing, cruise from the Pacific side through the locks toward Gamboa, followed by an included road transfer back to the Amador area.

On a southbound sailing, take the included road transfer from the Amador area to Gamboa first, then cruise through the canal’s Pacific section toward Amador.

Both directions include Miraflores Locks, Pedro Miguel Locks, Miraflores Lake and Culebra Cut, with the order reversed.

    IMPORTANT DEPARTURE INFORMATION

Travel independently to the designated Amador meeting point. Hotel pickup, hotel drop-off and transportation to the initial meeting point are not included. The connecting road transfer between Amador and Gamboa is included.

Your exact meeting point, check-in time and sailing direction are communicated the day before departure. Early-morning check-in may be required, so follow the instructions provided for your sailing.

Departure and arrival times depend on canal traffic, lock scheduling and operational requirements. Keep the rest of your day flexible and avoid arranging a tight onward connection.
