Start your day with a departure from Teatro Massimo in Palermo at 9:30 am (check-in at 9:15 am). The first stop is at the historic Cantine Duca di Salaparuta, a symbol of Sicilian wine excellence since the 19th century. Here you can learn about the history of Sicilian wine, watch the trailer “La teoria dei contrasti”, visit the wine cellars, and taste
5 selected wines paired with typical local products. The guided tour lasts approximately one hour and a half and is in English.
After your visit to the cellars, continue on to Solunto, the ancient city founded by the Phoenicians and later inhabited by the Greeks and Romans. Located on a promontory overlooking the sea, its panoramic view alone is worth the stop.
You can stroll through the ruins, admiring houses with mosaics and frescoes, the Hellenistic theater, the gymnasium, the agora, the baths, and the ancient water system. There is no shortage of archaeological finds such as pottery, coins, and statues. The visit lasts for about 2 hours and can be done independently, or with a guide on request.
Afterwards, take a walk to the Zafferano Lighthouse, built at the end of the 19th century, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the coast of Palermo and the surrounding sea.
The tour ends with drop-off back in Palermo at 5:00 PM.
