The main goal of this full day is to have a first experience in ice climbing, learn how to use crampons and ice axes, practice the basic technique in ice climbing in Top-Rope, and learn about anchors in snow and ice.
Duration: 8 to 10 hours
Where: Osorno Volcano, Los Lagos Region, Chile, (Seracs sector at 2,000 meters above sea level)
Includes: Local ACGM climbing guide, technical equipment (ropes, ice screws, ice axes, hardware, crampons).
Transportation from Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt, to be coordinated with the participants.
Accident Insurance.
What you'll need:
Have basic experience in sport climbing and be in good physical condition for a moderate 3-hour mountain hike to the workplace.
Guests must have:
Helmet (we can rent it to you)
Harness (we can rent it to you)
Crampon-compatible mountain shoes (mid-mountain or high-mountain)
Mountain shoes (semi-rigid or rigid high-top)
Headlamp
30 L backpack
UV protection lenses
Sunscreen
2-liter water bottle or thermos.
Trekking poles
Snow gloves (2 pairs)
Gaiters
Randonné. (Optional if you have experience and the equipment to reach the climbing sector)
