Cape Manzamo is one of the most iconic and photographed scenic spots in Okinawa.
Key Highlights
• The Elephant Nose Rock: The cape's defining feature is a massive, limestone cliff formation that looks strikingly like an elephant's trunk dipping into the ocean.
• The Emerald Sea: The cliff overlooks the East China Sea, offering a stunning contrast between the deep blue ocean, bright turquoise coral reefs, and the crashing white waves.
• The Grassy Plateau: True to its name, the top of the cliff is a wide, flat field covered in unique coastal vegetation, some of which are designated as prefectural natural monuments.
• Sunset Views: It is an incredible spot to watch the sunset over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the dramatic rock formations.
Kouri Island
Located just off the northern coast of Okinawa Main Island, Kouri Island is a small, stunningly beautiful island connected to the mainland by a spectacular bridge. It is famously nicknamed “Love Island” due to local folklore and a unique rock formation.
Key Highlights
• Kouri Bridge: Measuring nearly 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) long, driving across this bridge feels like you are flying over the ocean.
• The Heart Rocks: Located on Tinu Beach on the northern side of the island, these two coral rock formations naturally shaped like hearts became famous nationwide after being featured in a popular Japanese airline commercial. They are the reason why the island is a major hotspot for couples.
• Kouri Ocean Tower: An observation tower offering panoramic views of the entire island, the bridge, and the surrounding ocean. It also features a massive shell museum with over 10,000 specimens from around the world.
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
Located within the Ocean Expo Park in northern Okinawa, the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is widely considered one of the best and most spectacular aquariums in the world.
The word Churaumi means “beautiful ocean” in the local Okinawan dialect, and the aquarium perfectly lives up to its name by recreating the marine life of the surrounding Ryukyu Islands, from shallow coral reefs to the mysterious deep sea.
We will have lunch at Kouri Shrimp, a famous restaurant at Kouri Island, which is included in the tour.
