Ohlsdorf Cemetery is much more than “just” a cemetery. It is Hamburg's largest green space and the world's largest park cemetery. It boasts over 140 years of history, and walking through it is like stepping into an open history book.

We will meet on the cemetery side of the main entrance at Fuhlsbüttler Straße 756. From there, we will explore part of the 983-acre (398-hectare) site on foot for 1.5 hours (possibly a little longer).

The tour topics can be customized to suit the preferences of the participants. Typically, the tour ends near the main entrance. Depending on the participants' wishes, the return journey can also be made on one of the two HVV bus lines that run through the cemetery.

Along the way, we can discover over 100-year-old angel sculptures, mausoleums, and the opulent tombs of wealthy Hamburg merchant families, or we can visit the graves of prominent Hamburg figures. Depending on individual preferences, the tour can also cover topics such as tomb symbolism, burial culture, archaeological sites within the cemetery, or even art, botany, or nature conservation.
